I never knew what “Huat Ah” means. Was wondering the meaning when everyone wishes me that. Then, a friend told me that “Huat” means “Fa” or “Fatt“, which means prosperity.

And being a working adult, their well wishes are mostly, “Be prosperous”. Not that is bad, just feeling different. When I was much younger, CNY is all about fun and collecting ang pows. Never really bother about prosperity. Prosperity is good, but treat prosperity wise too.

But anyways, Chinese New Year is not all about being prosperous. It is also the time to spend time with your loved ones.

Had reunion dinner with the bf’s family for the 2nd time. The food were awesome! =D Then, the bf drove me back to Kuantan and spent the first day of CNY with me and my family for the first time. Had an awesome time together though.

2nd day of CNY is the most meriah one, when my relatives came down from Singapore, JB and KL. Of course, it gets more meriah when we have our 2 lil cousins along. =)

Photobucket

Amanda and Tarnia greeted us with “Gong Xi Fa Cai!” and they cheered us up with their big bright happy smiles!

Our reunion dinner mainly falls on the 2nd or 3rd day of CNY where everybody is back home. The food, oh so yummilicious Hainanese food!

Photobucket

sometimes, its also great hanging out with extended relatives too.

Photobucket

On the 3rd day of CNY, we went for our usual beach outing as the cousins loves the beach. This time we headed over to Pantai Sepat. It’s been awhile since I been there. It’s clean and not crowded!

This is also the best opportunity to practice my photography skills. Still bad, but I think it’s okay for a nooby like me. I was using daddy’s Nikon D90. Some pictures are taken by my sister using uncle’s Nikon D3100. Also, from here I learnt that taking pictures in RAW and just JPEG has difference especially when it comes to editing.

I thought I have mastered the knowledge of Shutter speed and Aperture, but whenever I hold a DSLR, I fail to understand. Settings will never get right! Anyways, way way way way way lots to learn!

I like the blue sky. Haha, edited it! With RAW, the sky can turn blue when I edit. Without RAW, no matter how much I enhance, the sky will never turn blue but the sea will turn as muddy as it can.

I have watched somewhere on YouTube, that, do not glue onto your handphone and ignore the guests.

Photobucket
Well, they are the guests. And they are all on the phone. Even Tarnia! All facebooking except for Tarnia, playing with her games on her mommy’s iPhone.
Tarnia knows which is iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4!

Kids are all so smart these days. And they make us happy! =)

Photobucket
Always looking forward for CNY because of the smiles we put on our faces. Everyone is happy, and I hope we all can be as happy as that all the time!

Photobucket
Wishing all of you a very happy new year! Well wishes and be prosperous in this year and in the near future!

It’s funny that despite being in a country with majority Chinese community, I was the ONLY Chinese at work today afternoon. The tea room was filled with Tagalog, Tamil and Burmese language.

Obviously shows the majority staff in this hospital’s OT are foreigners.

Photobucket

Oh well, at least I got my first angpow for this CNY from the hospital! I am definitely looking forward for more!

Work was extremely free today, a weekday, a TUESDAY. The list was like a Saturday’s list, not approaching 30 cases today. Time ticks so slowly, it was as if the whole afternoon took 24 hours. I was waiting for the next day’s list to come out so I could decide if I am able to apply for leave. When the list came out, there was less than 15 cases! Like, wow? On a WEDNESDAY?

Now, you see an obvious Chinese majority community. Everyone is preparing for CNY the next day!

So yeah, I managed to get a day leave tomorrow and I am ready to wake up earlier to clear my room.
(My room is still as messy as if it just got hit by tsunami). I just do not know how to clear all these mess. I would like to request to have my room door close throughout the whole CNY season.

And oh, I was out with Danee this morning for a pedicure session at We Love Nails, ION Orchard. She brought her Lumix GF2 along and O-M-G the camera is awesome! Made me feel like getting one! But like what daddy said, “If you want to get a DSLR, drop that thought of getting a GF2!

But Lumix GF2 is so awesome, I want one also!

Anyway, I can’t wait to go back to KL tomorrow. So many complications on my travel itinerary, I must make this holiday a good one. Because of that one mistake I made, I had to pay an extra $90. Not worth it for just one mistake you know? It hurts so bad. $90 can buy a nice pair of jeans liao.

And of course, to meet me love. <3 The one that will always make my heart leap. =)

Dec 24

Blogging from McD while waiting for departure. Another 1 hour to go.

I’m excited! Excited to go home, excited for Malaysian food, excited for my trip to Aussie again. =)

Been spending most of my money on paying up my debts. After paying them, I feel so much lighter (my pockets, banks and also my burdens!) lol. Oh well, can always earn those money again. Just need to be more wiser in spending and not so kiasu. When it is time to pay debts, pay. Don’t hold on even when you have the money. I have been like that for a year! Repent! Repent!

Oh well, Christmas is tomorrow. I bought so many gifts and don’t know who to give to! LOL! I bought extra gifts. So gonna bring those gifts back home and see how mom wanna distribute them. Too bad couldn’t find any beggar or poor people by the road side in singapore to bring them some christmas cheer. Beggars in Kuantan tipu people one. They are even richer than me.

It is the end of year 2010. What have I achieved? Oh well, 2010 is a rough year. Praying 2011 will be a great one!

Merry Christmas! =)

Feb 25

Did nothing much on Day 1. Basically I travelled back from KL to Kuantan on Day 1. Yeap, I did not travelled straight back to Kuantan from Singapore. It’ll be very tiring so I just thought I can at least rest in KL before heading to Kuantan. Reached Kuantan and only went to yi por’s place for dinner. The end of day 1.

This CNY is more on a great family time together. Only went to one friend’s house for visiting. Had great time catching up with them and they have not change a bit! Haha. =)

And as usual, when I get to meet my sister, I’ll dress and transform them into a whole different person.

Photobucket
Cardigan – not mine….lol Dress – Cotton On, Heels – Charles and Keith
So this is my sister Phoebe in my dress and heels. Since they look so good on her, I give them to her. She look better in those than I do.

On the 3rd day, we were invited over to Dai Yi Por’s (Eldest Grandaunty) place for lunch. CNY is the best season to get a great taste of Hainanese delicacies. My favourite will be the “green soup“. Yes. It is green in colour. It is a must whenever I visit any of my grandaunties’ houses for makan time whether it is during CNY or not.

Photobucket

Look at all those yummy food! Now I am salivating..
Only my grandaunties know how to masak these food. When they go already, don’t know who knows how to cook all these food liao. =(

Hui Xin and Amanda

Kids are spoilt with today’s technologies. Amanda is teaching Hui Xin on how to use the iPhone. Yes, any iPhone noobs here? I can get my lil Amanda to teach you too.

Photobucket

Well, I gotta say the best part of this CNY was the trip to the beach. Though it was just for a short while but I enjoyed the breeze and most importantly the laughter on everybody’s face! I come from where beaches are but I rarely go to the beach. I never appreciate the beach until I leave town to further my studies. Now the beach is my love…Whenever I go back to Kuantan, the beach is a must place to be at. I can spend hours sitting down on the sand. I miss Kuantan now…..

Photobucket

This is Tanya.

Photobucket

And this is Amanda

Photobucket

Amanda has overcome her fear in being dirty. She never like the beach because it makes her dirty but look at her now. Enjoying the mud!
Amanda: *giggles* eeee see i so dirty!! *giggles*

Photobucket

Like a commercial shoot. Love this shot!

Photobucket

And this is me lah. I dislike beer, I love Shandy. I know beer tastes like Shandy, but beer is bitter, Shandy is not! =D

And oh, that’s my brother, Abishua at the background. =)

Photobucket

Phoebe and I.

Yeaps, Phoebe looks so mature everyone thought I am her younger sister. =_=” Actually wherever I go, people thought I am still 16. Everytime I go to the mall, those salesman/saleswoman selling perfume, those people promoting credit cards, etc will not approach me. But when I am with my friends, then they will approach them! Even when I tried going into the casino, none of my friends were stopped, but I was stopped by the police and she asked me to show my IC.

Another incident was when I went to register for a phone line, the receptionist of StarHub asked me, “Have you got your parents’ permission to sign up for a line?” And she was shocked when I told her I am 21.

I dont wanna look like a school kid. Not that I don’t like looking young but I don’t like looking like a school kid. *grumpy*

OK, out of topic…back to CNY post!

Actually I don’t know what to write already. I’ll just end this post with a few pictures. Pictures will do alright??

Photobucket

Abigail and Tanya
This is a very random shot and at that time. Tanya was very excited to see her parents at the restaurant by the beach when we took the kids for a stroll along the beach.

Photobucket

Tanya the Dora
Don’t you think she looks like Dora the Explorer?

Photobucket

She’s playing the baby grand in Jessel’s home with full of passion. She’s posing for the camera and the baby grand keyboard cover is closed. Not that she don’t know how to play the piano, but you know, this poser will pose for anything.

That’s all for today’s post. I lost my mood in blogging cause the pictures did not turn out well. I mean the editing and all. Sucks.

Picture of the day is below…

Feb 13

I am now blogging in the bus. Show’s that I’m still in Singapore la, using the mobile broadband. Haha.

I usually take a flight back to Malaysia but this time I have chosen to take a bus because flight prices are double triple than normal. I’ll be travelling to KL now then take a bus back to Kuantan tomorrow morning.

Honestly, I am looking forward for Chinese New Year more than Valentine’s Day! Maybe because CNY is the time I can collect ang pow. So far, I have received 2 big ang pows before CNY. Awaiting for more!

Oh great, feeling nauseated now. I will blog when I reach home.
